PNG VOLLEYBALL FEDERATION
The Papua New Guinea Volleyball Federation (PNGVF) is the national governing body responsible for the promotion, development, and regulation of volleyball in Papua New Guinea. It oversees both indoor volleyball and beach volleyball, coordinating national competitions, player development, coaching, and referee education. The Federation is affiliated with international volleyball organizations, including the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), which gives PNG access to regional and global volleyball events.
The PNG Volleyball Federation organizes events like the National Volleyball Championships, where teams from across the country compete for the national title. The Federation also works to develop the sport at the grassroots level, especially through school programs, community initiatives, and coaching clinics. The PNG national volleyball teams (men’s and women’s) regularly compete in regional tournaments such as the Pacific Games and Oceania Volleyball Championship, with a goal of improving PNG’s standing in international competitions. While the sport faces challenges related to funding and infrastructure, the PNGVF continues to push for growth by increasing participation and creating opportunities for players to compete at higher levels.
